“The House budget up for a vote next week spends $584.4 million more in state funds than Gov. Chris Sununu’s proposed budget and includes $417.7 million in new taxes and fees, a Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy review shows.
The divergence in governing philosophies between the Republican governor and the Democratic House majority could hardly be more stark.
Sununu’s budget would increase fiscal year 2021 general fund spending by 1.1 percent over fiscal year 2018. The House budget increases spending by 14.8 percent from FY 2018 to FY 2021.
The tax increases show an equally sharp philosophical divergence”.
