by Hon. Frank McCarthy

I recently came across this letter to the editor in my files. Please take a moment to read it, in its entirety. Yes, it’s all now passé. However, if you ever wished, or prayed that the liberals would someday see the light, the similarities of this year’s crop of socialists, and what they are proposing in additional taxes, fees, spending, and more, when compared to the last time the democrats had the majority under Maggie Hassan in 2013 2014 is nothing less than striking. I am a firm believer in {Art.} 8. Part First of our State Constitution, I only wish a few of the socialist legislators took the time to read it! I doubt it very much!

{Art.} 8. ALL POWER RESIDING ORIGINALLY IN, AND BEING DERIVED FROM, THE PEOPLE, ALL THE MAGISTRATES AND OFFICERS OF GOVERNMENT ARE THEIR SUBSTITUTES AND AGENTS, ( ACTING IN THEIR STEAD) AND AT ALL TIMES ACCOUNTABLE TO THEM.

2013-2014 BUDGET Proposal

The proposals made by liberals relative to more than 25 new taxes and fees during the first three months of the new legislative session, including the largest tax hike in the State’s history… amounting to an additional 900 million dollars in new gas taxes, has proven to be insufficient relative to their appetite for spending. Today, the tax and spend liberal majority sent their biennium budget proposal to the full House for consideration. The budget includes the following: It expands the size of government by increasing spending…10.2 %. The budget also mandates an additional 70 million dollars in taxes and fees. The budget is erroneously balanced, willfully, with malice aforethought, by greatly exaggerating revenues from the current 2% to 5%. Their budget totally eliminates school construction aid. Not to mention the fact that in their unwavering and resolute need to protect failing public schools and satisfy their required payback to the teacher’s unions, Charter schools were targeted…to the extent they were totally, by moratorium, eliminated! As more protection for failing public schools and the unions they also put an end to the education opportunity scholarship program, even though it actually saved the State money.
