House Republican Leader Responds to Democrats’ Continued Assault on Education
CONCORD – House Republican Leader Richard Hinch (R-Merrimack) released the following statement in response to the Democrat controlled Fiscal Committee voting to table $46 million in federal funding that would directly benefit charter schools in New Hampshire.
“Today the Democrats on the Fiscal Committee continued their assault on education by tabling a federal grant that would significantly assist charter schools in our state. I’m not sure if they forgot, but charter schools are actually public schools in New Hampshire. It’s unfortunate that Democrats believe in a one size-fits-all system of education for our children. Their bias and short-sightedness are putting children across the state at a disadvantage. For a party that calls themselves champions of education, leaving $46 million in money for schools on the table is absolutely shocking.”
“I would like to think that members of the committee can come to a resolution in order to accept these funds, however, when the Speaker refuses to remove a member from the Education committee for saying, ‘F— private and religious schools’ on social media, I won’t hold my breath that they would support anything that expands students’ education options.”
