Legislative democrats reject $10 million federal grant for school funding

Concord, NH – Today, the New Hampshire Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee tabled, without discussion, a $10.1 million grant to expand access to charter schools in New Hampshire. Senate Republican Leader Chuck Morse (R-Salem) issued the following statement:

“Once again, Concord Democrats have denied alternative educational opportunities to New Hampshire children, this time without consideration or debate,” said Senate Republican Leader Chuck Morse (R-Salem). “Commissioner Edelblut has continued to satisfactorily answer the concerns of the committee, but the committee would rather leave over $10 million in federal funds on the table than see it go to support at risk youth in public charter schools. Senator Jeb Bradley has sponsored SB 747 which would accept this grant, I urge everyone who would like to see the state accept these funds to show up to the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday, February 18th at 1:00pm in State House 103 to show your support.”
